Rock and Water Mixed Martial Arts – Empowering Children, Encouraging Excellence

Martial Arts is one of the fastest-growing extracurricular activities for children and adults alike. It is a powerful way to help children reach their potential.

I have seen first-hand the benefits that good Martial Arts training can produce, especially in young children, and I firmly believe it can make a huge difference in a child’s life. My aim was to develop a program with depth and credibility that is easy to learn but would also complement the job of parents and school teachers alike, in tackling complex situations around children every day.

The RAWMMA difference:

Your child will:

•Show a remarkable increase in self-confidence
•Develop a deep sense of social, emotional, body and self awareness
•Increase their attention span
•Learn to deal with Bullying
•Learn to strengthen their concentration skills
•Learn leadership, patience, acceptance, respect and to act honourably

Welcome to Rock and Water Martial Arts. A program for all children to learn about life, themselves and the world around them. Our black belt instructors are passionate about the education of children and using Martial Arts, we have created a dynamic and fun program for all children.

Pebbles (4, 5 & 6 year olds) – Children learn basic life skills and concepts and the basic foundations of the Rock and Water Program along with basic:

Listening

Stranger Danger & Bully Busting

Focus

Teaching of Delayed Gratification

Understanding the moral chain of action/consequence

Self-discipline

Respect

Definition of “Rock” and “Water”

Rocks (7 & 8 years) – A more in-depth stage of RAWMA, the focus is on social and emotional development, self-awareness/reflection:

“Rock Attitude” – How and when to apply it

“Water Attitude” – How and when to apply it

An introduction to Self-Defence and the RAWMA syllabus

All points above are covered in greater detail and appropriate to the different age.

Boulders (9-12 years) – All points aforementioned become more challenging. There is more responsibility and expectation placed on the students not only in the studio however in their school work and how they conduct themselves socially. Bullying becomes more prevalent and we are aware that it’s effects can be significant.

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ), in its purest form is a Martial Art and self-defence developed by the Gracie Family nearly 100 years ago. It involves the application of techniques to gain control and ultimately sumbit an attacker or opponent by the manipulation of joints using armlocks and leglocks and also utlises chokes and choke holds. It is predominantly a ground defence/fighting system however, basic sweeps, trips and throws (Judo) are taught in every class in order to employ Brazilian Jiu Jitsu techniques from the ground.
Commonly referred to as “human chess”, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a highly tactical, skillful and strategic sport and a devistatingly effective martial art and self-defence that suits anyone. Whether you want to compete, learn a self-defence (that works) or simply increase fitness and strength, BJJ is for you.
We welcome you to enquire about our BJJ at Sweatbox and we invite you to come along for a FREE CLASS and be on your way to learning the traditions, culture and legacy of this fascinating, empowering and incredible martial art.
